Deep corrugated structural steel bridges. Assembly criteria and analysis.
Keywords:
Assembly, Structural steel, TEM and MTC wallsAbstract
The assembly of deep corrugated structural steel bridges consists of several stages: foundation, anchoring, assembly of deep corrugated structural steel arches, bolt torque and nut tightening, filling and compaction, deformation control, and lateral soil support elements (TEM and MTC walls). The following document aims to explain the different stages involved in the installation of steel bridges, as well as to state the installation time for deep corrugated steel bridges, which can be installed in 1 to 2 months. The quality of the structural steel used to manufacture the bridge supply must comply with Chilean Standard NCh203, especially with regard to Table 3 - Structural steels for constructions subjected to dynamic loads. In addition, the certification of these steels must be granted by an accredited Product Certification Body, and the tests must be carried out by an accredited laboratory (for example, IDIEM of the University of Chile), as specified in point 5.2 of Chapter 5 Inspection, sampling, and acceptance and rejection criteria of Standard NCh203.
