Abstract

In this research, an analysis of energy measurements for SPT (Standard Penetration Test) tests in automatic hammer is carried out. Theoretical and empirical formulations and experimental results were used for this purpose. The main aspects of this study are: basic formulations of Terzaghi's theory, mathematical formulations, analysis of results obtained on field tests performed with energy measurements for SPT tests in automatic hammers. The research gives as main result the relation between the transferred energy (ERi% or ETR%), and 60% of the theoretical energy of the SPT test as a function of the type of material at subsoil level and depth of the test. The results obtained (ratio ERi / 60) are applied in a real case, with the objective of analyzing possible consequences of not adequately dimensioning the bearing capacities of the soil at the infrastructure level (foundations).
