Advances in the Implementation of a Road Management System (Phase I Paved Roads)

Road ManagementAbstract
The objective is to show the progress in the implementation of a Road Management System, starting with paved roads for Phase I. This has been supported by the ICARO platform, developed by the company RAUROSZMCOM, S.L.U. for the use of the Departamento de Gestión Vial de la Dirección de Vialidad de Chile. The implementation of the ICARO System is based on the premise of comprehensively managing a significant amount of data collected in the automated survey processes of paved roads carried out from 2015 to date. Additionally, it incorporates other necessary information to achieve optimal road management, such as infrastructure inventories, traffic data, proposed maintenance actions, and other relevant data for decision-making. The description of each of its modules allows for observing the system's capabilities and will enable future improvements in the processes of information collection, data loading, and proper visualization. It will also serve as a source of information for new investment proposals in the road sector, as it provides recent, comprehensive, and objective information.
To implement this platform, the regions of Aysén and Los Ríos were selected as pilots because they have updated survey data and relatively small road networks, which allowed for a quick review of the system and the necessary adjustments to adapt the System to the context of the Dirección de Vialidad de Chile.
